Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment is setting up to remake Ghost Graduation, a Spanish comedy, at Fox.
Overbrook, which is run by Smith, James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz, finished its deal Friday. Now, they’re looking for a writer to pen the project.
The plot is centered on Modesto, a high school teacher who sees the spirit of deceased people. This spookiness has caused him to get fired from every teaching job he has ever had and also ran-up his tab sky high at his shrink’s office. Things for Modesto changes when he’s hired at Monforte, where five students have transformed the school into a house of horrors. Modesto’s goal is to have all five kids pass their senior year, but the only caveat is, the five students have been dead for over 20 years.
The original producers of Ghost Graduation were Franciso Sánchez, Simón de Santiago, Eneko Lizarraga, Fernando Bovaira, Edmon Roch and Sandra Hermida. The production companies involved in the original were Mod Producciones, Ciskul, Think Studio & Ikiru Films.
There has been no word on whether Will Smith will play in the adaption.
