Zach Galifianakis' 'Between Two Ferns' Airs On TV For First Time

Between Two Ferns, the talk show parody hosted by Zach Galifianakis, aired on TV for the first time last night, and viewers were in for a treat.

In the half-hour special, Galifianakis interviews Jon Stewart, Richard Branson, and Tina Fey. As host, Galifianakis gets berated by Jon Stewart about his image, teases Sir Richard Branson (who he nicknames “Ricky”) about his extensive wealth, and is insulted by Tina Fey, who admits she’s never seen The Hangover.

Galifianakis has been airing Between two Ferns online since 2008, with web episodes leaking every few months. Before its one year hiatus, the series had already seen some big names, including traditionally serious actors Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Bruce Willis as well as comedians Will Ferrell, Steve Carell and Ben Stiller.

Between Two Ferns is produced by Funny Or Die. Galifianakis has won several awards for the series, including a nomination for “Best Viral Original” at this year’s Comedy Awards.

The special aired on Comedy Central on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT, and was followed by the Comedy Awards at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. There has been no word indicating the series will become a part of the network’s regular programming schedule.
