Grammy Award-winning songstress Estelle, whose hit song American Boy made her a global star, has been confirmed as one of the exciting acts to perform next month at Caribbean Fashionweek (CFW).
The fashion extravaganza will celebrate its 12th year at the National Indoor Sports Centre from June 7 to 11. A plethora of designers from across the Caribbean including Cedella Marley, daughter of reggae icon Bob Marley, and talented designer Tigerlily, will showcase their collections to an audience of the Caribbean fashion industry who’s who. Slovakian- born, Jamaica-based designer Lubica, who has seen her recent relationship with Jamaica’s sprint champion Usain Bolt become public fodder, returns to CFW for a fourth time to show off her designs. Other highlights of CFW 2012 include Karl Lagerfeld muse Jeneil Williams and Oraine Barrett, the face of Ralph Lauren, both returning to the
European and African-American industry heavyweights such as Federico Poletti of Vogue Italia; Toccara Jones, former contestant of America’s Next Top Model and BET celebrity; and Giorgia Catarini of Italian Glamour are also expected to attend.
CFW takes another giant step forward in 2012, as Pulse, producers of the event, redoubles its efforts to take Caribbean fashion to greater heights. Pulse has developed an event of a high international standard to showcase the best of the Caribbean’s designers, as well as other world-renowned stylists from various parts of the globe. Approximately 50 designers from 20 countries participate each year.
We at SO are keeping our fingers crossed for another ‘wow’ moment at CFW, following last year’s stunning menswear Euro-chic collection from Spoerry 1886 that featured sea island cotton from Patrick Casserly’s whiteshirt LLC.
