The Hollywood Reporter reports that Richard Jenkins has signed on to star in the indie drama One Square Mile.
The actor will play a reclusive track coach who befriends a young talented runner (Cameron Bright), whose only ticket out of poverty is running.
Bright is best known for his roles in the Twilight series as Alec, the brother of Dakota Fanning’s Jane character. He will also be reprising his role in Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2, which comes out later this year.
Jenkins was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in The Visitor in 2008. His recent credits include Friends with Benefits and Eat Pray Love.
One Square Mile was written by Jeff Van Wie and Josh Campbell. It’s being produced by Phoenix Rising Motion Pictures’ Howard Burd and Micah Sparks. Martin Harmon will executive produce.
Though the film has no domestic distribution deal in place as of yet, the film will be showing at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival in France.
Filming is set to begin in Seattle later this year.
