Leonardo Dicaprio and Martin Scorsese have teamed up once again for Red Granit Pictures’ The Wolf of Wall Street. The news was made public from an announcement by Red Granite Pictures.
The film is based on the memoirs of Jordan Belfort. Dicaprio leads the film as Belfort, a man who rose to the top of Wall Street and lived by greed, crime and violence. In the height of his success, Belfort partied hard and suffered a drug and alcohol addiction which ultimately caused his fall from grace.
Terrence Winter has taken on the job to adapt the screenplay. He is best known for shows like The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire. Scorsese and Emma Koskoff head as executive producers. Riza Aziz, Joe McFarlane and DiCaprio will serve as producers.
Riza Aziz had this to say about the award winning director: “Everything about this film plays to Martin Scorsese’s genius and visionary storytelling, At its heart, The Wolf of Wall Street is about the rise of new ‘modern’ gangsters in New York. Wall Street gangsters that redefined excess, greed and arrogance. We’re excited to see Mr. Scorsese take the reins of this visceral, tumultuous ride.”
This marks the fifth film that DiCaprio and Scorsese have worked on together. Past projects include Gangs Of New York, The Departed, The Aviator and Shutter Island.
