George Clooney To Host Massive Fundraiser For President Obama

George Clooney will host an upcoming fundraiser for President Barack Obama. The Oscar award-winner has invited 150 guests to his co-hosted President’s re-election campaign, which will be held at his Los Angeles home.

The tickets for the affair will run the invitees $40,000 apiece, which will benefit the Obama Victory Fund. The OVF is a joint fundraising committee of the Democratic National Committee, Obama for America, and several state Democratic parties.

Clooney will co-host the event alongside DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, who was going to have the party at his $35 million mansion, but the new home was not finished being built in time.

“The Democrats are just very poor, in general, at explaining what it is, when they accomplished something. I think they’re pretty bad at it, and Republicans are very good at it,” Clooney told Meet the Press host David Gregory. “If I was a Republican, and Obama was a Republican, I would be selling all of the, you know, he saved the auto industry and he got Osama bin Laden. He passed a health care bill that no one could pass — if that was a Republican issue. I would be able to sell his presidency as a very successful one. But Democrats are bad at that, we like to pick each other apart.”

The event will be held on May 10, 2012.
