Anchorman 2 has been given the go-ahead, according to an announcement made by Will Ferrell himself on last night’s edition of ‘Conan’.
While appearing in character and playing a jazz flute, Ferrell broke the news about the long-awaited Anchorman sequel getting the green light:
“As of oh-nine-hundred hours Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel for ‘Anchorman.’ It is official: There will be a sequel to ‘Anchorman.'”
The funny-man actor then played more of his jazz flute as he rolled off stage into the curtains.
The announcement puts to rest fears that Anchorman 2 would never take place.
Although a release date was not a part of Ferrell’s announcement, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner are reportedly expected to reprise their roles from the original. Reports also claim that Judd Apatow will once again produce the comedy film while Adam McKay will return as director.
