Oprah Winfrey Lands Interview With South Carolina Baby Killer

In another attempt to save her struggling network, Oprah Winfrey has secured an exclusive interview with the South Carolina mother who murdered her two young sons and then attempted to make their deaths look like an accident.

Winfrey will interview confessed killer, Shaquan Duley, at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Detention Center in South Carolina on the April 1st installment of Oprah’s Next Chapter. The talk show is currently the most-watched program on OWN.

Duley admitted she killed her 2-year-old son Devean and 18-month-old son Ja’Van on August 16, 2010, when she took them to a motel and smothered them to death. Afterwards  she buckled the bodies into a car and drove it 15 miles away into the muddy Edisto River. Duley then climbed out of the car to save herself and flagged down a motorist claiming she and her family were involved in an accident.

This is the latest high profile grab for Winfrey, who landed an  interview with Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina and other family members last week. The media mogul’s network, OWN,  is fighting to stay afloat while facing mounting financial woes. Last week, it announced that it is eliminating 30 positions in the network’s Los Angeles and New York Offices and canceled the low-rated Rosie O’Donnell talk show.

According to published reports, OWN has burned through more than $300 million since its January 2011 launch. Analysts at SNL Kagan estimate that the network may lose $142.9 million this year.
