Pilar Sanders Releases Statement In Response To Media Attacks

Pilar Sanders has had enough with the mudslinging attacks from the media. Fresh off of new alleged accounts touted from TMZ, Pilar, NFL star Deion Sanders’ estranged wife, has released a fiery, unequivocal statement.

More on that in a minute.

What was Pilar’s breaking point for releasing a statement?

According to the latest reports, Mrs. Sanders wants to have a chat with Deion’s “mistresses” so she may have proof that her husband strayed during their marriage. But the website claims that Pilar has said that Deion is standing in the way of the meet-up by bribing these “mistresses.”

The website obtained a motion filed by the soon-to-be-ex-wife of Sanders that “demands sanctions against Deion,” claiming he has been “tampering with witnesses,’ specifically a 20-year-old model, Aleea Stanton, whom the ex-NFL star allegedly had relations with last summer.

Among that, Pilar supposedly filed documents requesting depositions of others, who may help her infidelity stance, including another alleged mistress—Tracey Edmonds, ex-wife of Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds.

“I am shocked to learn that Pilar Sanders is trying to drag me and my employees through her pre-nuptial dispute. I cannot understand why she continues to create public issues out of her private life issues and feel very sorry for their children,” Tracey said according to TMZ. “For the record, Deion Sanders and I first met at the top of this year, after he filed for divorce, when he and his partner reached out to me to produce a project of his.”

Despite the ramblings, Pilar insists she has not spoken to the media since her initial statement and refutes wholeheartedly most of what is being reported.

Now back to that peeved, confirmed released statement.

“Normally, I do not respond to media comments, statements or stories. However, several different sources have contacted me regarding TMZ’s latest posting, that I wanted to speak with the mistresses my husband has been secretly involved with behind my back…let me be clear…that is utterly ridiculous and couldn’t be further from the truth!!!! I have absolutely and unequivocally no interest, time or desire to be a part of the media mayhem circulating about my divorce. I’ve only made ONE statement period! My statement was in response to receiving divorce papers that my husband gave to me Sept. 22, 2011 but were not officially filed.”

“So, like a lot of untruths that are floating around by numerous media/social outlets, I have NOT given any personal statements and/or comments about my pending divorce. Believe half of what you read and less than half of what you hear.”

“Despite the personal attacks and pathetic LIES that have spread like the plague. I have NOT nor have any need to run to the media.”

“When I do decide to speak on my divorce, there will be NO questions, second-guessing or need of hearsay. I have God given strength to stand and fight for what I believe is right and only the truth will prevail.”

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
