Nicole Kidman To Star In Upcoming Film 'The Railway Man'

Nicole Kidman has been selected to play in the film The Railway Man. The actress will replace Rachel Weisz, who originally was signed on for the role. Weisz had to abandon the movie because of a film conflict.

Kidman will play alongside Colin Firth, who will portray a real-life World War II P.O.W., Eric Lomax.

The actress will play Patti, the wife of Lomax, who will help him deal with the psychological damage caused by war-time post-traumatic stress disorder. Kidman’s character will also help him face one of the Japanese officers that participated in his torture.

War Horse‘s Jeremy Irvine will play young Lomax when he was captured by the Japanese army and imprisoned.

The movie will be directed by Jonathan Teplitzy.  The producer, Andy Paterson, also co-wrote the adaptation with Frank Cottrell Boyce.

Eric Lomax’s true story is about his terrible experiences as a Japanese prisoner in World War II, and his reconciliation with one of his captors 30 years later.
