Adele, Britain 23-year-old singing sensation, gave the middle finger to host James Corden for disrupting the singer’s acceptance speech Tuesday night at the 2012 Brit Awards.
“Nothing beats coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the Brits and winning album of the year.”
The “Rolling In The Deep” singer was mid-excitement and mid-speech for the most prestigious award the MasterCard British Album of the Year when host Corden, a TV presenter and actor, appeared next to her—amidst boos— giving the indication he was about to snip her delivery short.
“Are you about to cut me off? Can I just say then, goodbye and I’ll see you next time round?” she asked him before flipping him the bird, causing the room to cheer.
Why did Corden cut Adele off during her big moment?
A representative for ITV, which aired the awards show, came to the defense of the host after seeing the reaction from the crowd, and not to mention the one-finger-salute from Adele.
“The Brits is a live event. Unfortunately the program was over-running and we had to move on. We would like to apologize to Adele for the interruption.”
The poor guy was just doing his job and he was ready to introduce Blur who was on to perform after Adele’s acceptance speech but certainly they could have allowed her more than a measly 20 seconds.
While many were shocked by the songbird’s gesture, the remarks she made about her Dad a couple of days ago is indicative of her wrath.
“If I ever see him I will spit in his face,” the six-time Grammy Award winner told US Vogue magazine about her Dad when she learned he talked to the press about the dynamic of their relationship.
While she hasn’t taken her angst that far with the host, the apology she gave to Corden was half-sincere at best.
“I was about to thank the British public for their support,” she explained. “They cut me off, sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me.”
