Nicki Minaj To Unload New Single ‘Roman Holiday’ At Grammy Awards

Nicki Minaj will take over the 54th Grammy Awards stage for the first time to perform new single ‘Roman Holiday’ from her imminent sophomore album, ‘Pink Friday:   Roman Reloaded’.

One to leave a mark with her offbeat stage presence, Minaj is going a step further with the unveiling of her alter-ego, Roman Zolanski for the Grammy telecast.

What can fans expect from the Roman/Nicki smash up?

According to a source, fans should be ready to experience an outlandish Zolanski production for the rapper’s first Grammy performance. Nicki will remix ‘Roman Holiday’ with ‘Roman’s Revenge’ from her successful Grammy-nominated debut album ‘Pink Friday’. While Minaj will revisit her roots, Barbies shouldn’t expect pop, fluffy tunes as her ‘Superbass’ hit or the techno induced, BET-banned new release ‘Stupid Hoe’ to be worked into the number. Which given the slew of negative reviews on the latter – listeners can remain hopeful.

Minaj is nominated for best new artist, best rap performance, and best rap album which is no surprise because the Harajuku Barbie has dominated the airwaves proving the hype that Lil’ Wayne (who discovered the female MC) bestowed upon her was justified. However, Nicki isn’t counting awards just yet.

“I’m not going to be nervous about winning because I really don’t think I’m going to win anything,” says Nicki. “I know eventually in my career, I’m going to have Grammies. This year is just about being nominated and feeling grateful, feeling like my fans and I have come a long way.”

Well, if the 29-year-old does win, the celebration will have to be put on hold. Nicki is in full promotion mode for her forthcoming album. In keeping with a string of high-profile appearances, a few days ago she shared the stage with Madonna and M.I.A. for a show-stopping performance just in time to garner more hype about her new music. Then, her ‘Marilyn Monroe’ single was conveniently leaked the next day creating more music buzz for the rapper and after her presumably epic Grammys’ performance, ‘Roman Holiday’ will be available on iTunes, the next day Minaj will premiere ‘Starships’ on the Ryan Seacrest radio show which will also be available on iTunes shortly after its premiere. If that wasn’t enough Nicki will gear up for a performance at the 2012 NBA All-Star game in Orlando.

“Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” is set for release on April 3 after being pushed back from its original Valentine’s Day release.

The 54th Grammy Awards will air February 12th on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Are you looking forward to Nicki’s performance?
