Rihanna Pays Tribute To Michael Jackson; Beyonce Lands College Course

UPDATE-Rihannaput her completed Thug Life tattoo on full display as she joined Michael Jackson‘s children Paris, Prince and Blanket at the premiere of Michael Jackson ‘THE IMMORTAL’ World Tour by Cirque du Soleil. Jackson’s children who never saw him performed honored their father their night before by placing their hand and foot prints at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. On Friday night, Cirque du Soleil contributed by performing a few of Michael’s hits at Staples Center.

At the event, Rihanna, who sparked controversy earlier in the week when she tweeted a picture of a Tupac tattoo, kept it rock chic in a black diamond studded jacket, black leather pants and sexy Christian Louboutin sandals. Singer Brandy also brought along her daughter.

Check out more pictures of Brandy, Michael’s children Paris, Prince, Blanket (who does not look like a happy camper) and Rihanna below:

Beyonce Becomes Subject Of College Course

While the debate ranges on about Beyonce’s baby Blue Ivy’s godmother, Knowles is following in the footsteps of her husband Jay-Z with a course at Rutgers University. According to PH.D. candidate Kevin Allred the course is called ‘Politicizing Beyonce’ and is a part of the school’s women’s and gender studies curriculum,

Here’s how Allred explains the course; “This isn’t a course about Beyonce’s political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama’s inauguration weekend. She certainly pushes boundaries. While other artists are simply releasing music, she’s creating a grand narrative around her life, her career, and her persona.”

The school’s website also added, “The performer’s music and career are used as lenses to explore American race, gender, and sexual politics… Course topics include the extent of Beyonce’s control over her own aesthetic, whether her often half-naked body is empowered or stereotypical, and her more racy performances as her alter ego, Sasha Fierce.”

Other great musicians included in the discussion   will be Lady Gaga, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone.

What do you think of University students studying musicians – and is Beyonce a good candidate?
