Halle Berry Accepts Olivier's Proposal Because Of Nahla

UPDATE-Halle Berry is engaged to Olivier Martinez thanks in part to his loving relationship with her daughter Nahla.

POPULARCRITIC got a whiff of Halle being spotted with an engagement ring over the holidays, but nothing was confirmed. Berry and Martinez are not formally confirming this latest tidbit either but insiders are more than eager to say the engagement is on!

The duo may not be talking, but a Guhran jeweler rep is spilling the beans to US Magazine. Reportedly actor Martinez proposed to the Oscar winner over the holidays with a one-of-a-kind emerald and diamond engagement ring.

The actors met while filming ‘Dark Tide’ and shortly thereafter began dating in the fall of 2010. Several months prior, Berry split from ex- Gabriel Aubry with whom she has a 3-year-old daughter, Nahla. The two have been in the headlines in an ongoing bitter dispute about shared custody and Gabriel having unsupervised visits (or not) with the precious tot.

On the other hand, Halle’s relationship with the handsome ‘Unfaithful’ actor has gone under the radar without any disparaging rumors. Maybe this one is the real deal. Halle has been previously married to Atlanta Braves baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet. After Halle and Eric divorced, she infamously declared no more marriage for her on the Oprah show. Roll the tape. LOL! Berry has even gone on record at other times about how the concept of marriage eluded her after her second attempt failed.

“I wish I had known then that I was not the marrying kind,” she said. “It would have saved me a lot of time, heartache and grief over the years.” She added, “I have done it twice and I am not going to do it again. The traditional form of marriage is not for me.”

Martinez has never tied the knot, but did date Kylie Minogue, who sent her congratulations to her ex via Twitter on Wednesday.

Update: It’s been revealed that Halle turned the tide on her ban on marriage after observing Olivier’s deep bond with Nahla. Martinez had been spotted several times taking Nahla to the beach without Halle around. The source stated,

“Halle had given up on being married, but she trusts Olivier. He makes her feel safe. He’s a keeper! Adding, “Halle feels Olivier has made a connection and a commitment to her and her daughter.”

Congrats to Halle and Olivier!

Democracy needs journalism it can trust.

This election season, the stakes are higher than usual — and so is the pressure on newsrooms to soften their coverage, stay quiet, or just disappear. Independent reporting, the kind that answers to readers instead of advertisers or political pressure, matters more in a moment like this, not less.

For over 14 years, Atlanta Black Star has stayed independent and reader-funded. We have no corporate owner and no shareholders telling us what to cover or how to cover it. That independence is also our biggest vulnerability: nothing protects it except readers choosing to fund it directly.

Newspaper ad revenue has fallen more than 80% since 2005, and local newsrooms are closing at a rate of roughly two a week nationwide. When outlets go under in a moment like this, it's rarely the independent, reader-funded ones that get to stick around.

We know a request for support isn't why you came here. But without readers choosing to fund this work directly, the depth of reporting we can do at home and abroad shrinks along with everyone else's. If you're not in a position to give, that doesn't change how much we value you as a reader.

If you are able to, a recurring contribution does more for us than a single one-time gift, because it lets us plan the next investigation instead of just the next invoice. It takes about 30 seconds, no long form, no account. Thank you for continuing to support independent journalism and freedom of the press.
