Russell Brand has filed for divorce from singer Katy Perry, claiming that they have irreconcilable differences.
“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends,” the actor said in a statement on Friday after filing divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The “Get Him to the Greek” star and the pop star Perry met in 2008 and married on October, 2010 in India.
A couple months back, media outlets reported that the couple’s marriage was in trouble. Brand later denied the rumors that the two were planning to split.
“I am married to Katy perpetually. Until death do us part was the pledge. I am still alive,” the actor told U.S. talk show host Ellen DeGeneres in a December 2 interview.
Brand and Perry didn’t spend the Christmas holidays together. The British native was in England, and Perry was spotted in Hawaii — both without their wedding rings.
