UPDATE-X Factor crowns Melanie Amaro as its first US winner.
Melanie Amaro walks away with a $5 million recording contract and a spot in a Pepsi commercial to air during next year’s Superbowl. After more than a few fillers the The X Factor winner was announced and Melanie was overwhelmed, shaking and speechless!! Host Steve Jobs couldn’t get a much from Melanie who could only utter, “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!” Melanie’s family and the other X Factor contestants swarmed the stage to congratulate the winner.
Simon Cowell her mentor was more than pleased,
“America, thank you for giving this girl an opportunity … She is a star, I’m very proud and very grateful.”
Cowell sent Melanie home during the earlier rounds but upon realizing his error, called her back. It turned out to be the best decision for the mogul and the 19-year old originally from the British Virgin Islands but resides in Sunrise, Florida.
Runner ups, Chris Rene and Josh Krajcik, respectively, accepted their lose with grace. Rene who was mentored by L.A Reid stated, “I feel amazing that I got to do this, that I’m here, and that God has blessed me with so many opportunities. I’ve just gotta say thank you.”
Josh added, “Melanie deserves it, she has a wonderful voice,” he said. “I’ve had such an incredible experience here. I got to be myself and sing what I wanted to sing. I couldn’t be happier.”
In the end, Melanie performed ‘Listen’ once again, although this time she was understandably overwhelmed, forgetting her words and sobbing through her performance. In the end, Melanie thanked her fans, “Thank you so much,” she sobbed. “I don’t even know what to say — God is good!”
