Eva Green Up For Goddess Role In '300: Battle of Artemisia'

Eva Green has entered negotiations to play the goddess Artemisia in”300: Battle of Artemisia,” according to Heat Vision.

Artemisia is the gold-covered goddess who persuades king-turned-god Xerxes to amass his army to face  the Greek forces in battle. The giant battle at the center of the film is said to be happening simultaneously with the events of the original “300.”

The “300” sequel is still in search for a male lead .”Warrior” star Joel Edgerton recently turned down the role of Themosticles, the general of the Greek army. Rodrigo Santoro, who played Raul Castro in Steven Soderbergh’s “Che,” has been cast as Xerxes.

Eva Green is best known for her role as Vesper Lynd, a love interest of 007′  in “Casino Royale.” She also stars in upcoming works such as “Perfect Sense,” opening Feb. 10, 2012, and  Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows,” opening May 11.

“300: Battle of Artemisia”  is scheduled to begin production early next year and is expected to be released sometime in 2013. “Smart People” director Noam Murro is in the director’s chair.
