Is This A Good Idea? Studio To Turn Wrestler Chris Benoit Story Into A Movie

SRG Films is making a movie name Crossface, which is a film about the life ending tragedy of wrestler Chris Benoit.

The film’s based on the book Ring Of Hell: The Story of Chris Benoit and the Fall of the Pro Wrestling Industry. Script was written by former Weinstein Company staffer Sarah Coulter. The film covers the pressures facing WWE star Benoit and how the combination of drug use, depression and head trauma led him to become a lethal ticking time bomb(Deadline Hollywood).

In an emotional battle, that was later described as being induced by steroids, Benoit murdered his wife, his son, and then took his own life back in 2007.

“Chris Benoit has become a poster child for everything that’s wrong with professional wrestling and Sarah’s terrific script captures his struggles and the many factors that led to the deaths of three people,” Carnegie said. “People immediately point to steroids, never thinking about the brain trauma these wrestlers can and do incur in their profession, nor do they consider the rigorous schedule that keeps them working even when they shouldn’t.”
