Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming HBO drama series, previously named More As This Story Develops, has just received the official title: ‘Newsroom’, according to HBO-related website HBOWatch.com. However, the name has reportedly not been cleared, despite it being the top choice for the series.
Sorkin writes about a fictional cable news channel ‘UBS’ based loosely on MSNBC’s late ‘Countdown with Kieth Olberman’ telecast. ‘Newsroom’ stars Jeff Daniels as UBS primetime host Will McCallister and Law & Order‘s Sam Waterston as UBS News president Charlie Skinner.
Sorkin executive produces Newsroom with Scott Rudin. The West Wing creator won a recent Oscar for his The Social Network screenplay.
