Jay-Z may have placed a bug in the ears of Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and the Smiths are already partners in two separate ventures: Carol’s Daughter and popular Broadway play Fela Kuti.
While Jay owns a stake in the New Jersey Nets or Brooklyn Nets as it will be known by this time next year, Will Smith and Jada grabbed a minority stake in the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Smiths have their work cut out for them, the 76ers track record is rather dismal. Valued at $300 million “the Sixers lost around $15 million last season and have not turned a profit since 2001-02, the year after they went to the NBA finals.”
Will and Jada’s star power will hopefully be used to bring back the fan base as Jay-Z has done for the Nets. Can you imagine what dinner conversations are like between the Carters and the Smiths?!
