Phylicia Rashad, Tony-Award winner and the beloved mother from The Cosby Show has been hired by none other than Oscar winner Denzel Washington. Washington donated $2.25 million to his alma mater Fordham University to endow the Denzel Washington Chair in Theater.
According to director of the theater program, Matthew Maguire, Denzel wants to rotate the professorship amongst well-known actors, directors, playwrights and designers.
Rashad had the honor of being the first appointee. The interest from $2 million donated will cover each appointees salary through the fall semester. According to NY Times, the remaining $250,000 is set aside for minority undergraduate students studying theater at Fordham.
Phylicia Rashad will be teaching a course called “Creating A Character”. Sounds interesting…
