Update-Late last week Kat Von D‘s hit show LA Ink was canceled. The following day Kat announced her engagement was back on with Jesse James. The network released this statement;
“TLC has decided that the current season of LA Ink will be its last. The network is proud of what the series has accomplished in its four seasons, following Kat Von D’s journey as an artist from Miami to Los Angeles. The series finale will air September 15th at 10p.m”.
Kat Von D wasn’t sitting quietly anymore as TLC attempted to damage her relationship when she told People;
“In an effort to capitalize on my recent breakup, the network has decided to focus their energy on re-editing events that didn’t happen while filming. I have no regrets and am very proud of the original footage. In my opinion, any attempt to compromise the honesty of that would be an insult to my fans and viewers.”
She also followed the statement with this less than agreeable tweet;
“I love how me deciding to not continue doing La Ink, turns into being cancelled. Thanks @TLC. Regardless of everything I remain grateful.”
You know that old saying “when something smells like a rat….”? The news of La Ink’s cancellation, comes just as Kat’s on again off again relationship with Jessie James is apparently on again as the two tweeted separate PDA photos confirming their engagement is still a go. James, who had previously stated that distance played a large role in the couple’s initial break up, took things a bit further by attaching the caption “para siempre”, which is Spanish for “forever”.
Jessie released the following heart felt message to People Magazine about his undying love for Kat;
“Sometimes you are only given one chance in life. It was up to me to open my eyes and see it. That girl is my chance. I will never stop fighting and striving to hold on to her. Showing her how special she is, and how much I love her.”
Whether or not Jesse James and Kat openly discussed the impact of her show on their relationship – it appears that Kat Von D made the decision to leave the show behind to save her engagement. Honestly, as over the top and bizarre as their relationship may be, it’s refreshing to see someone willing to step away from the spotlight and not become another statistic of reality TV breaking up a relationship.
With LA Ink behind her, do you think Kat Von D and Jesse James have a chance?
