Prince William and Kate Middleton wed today after dominating the headlines for nearly an entire week. The buzz around the Royal Wedding of course surrounds Kate Middleton’s dress. Fashion insiders unanimously agreed that Alexander McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton was inspired by Grace Kelly’s wedding dress when she married Prince Ranier III.
“We thought it was perfection,” Mark Badgley of Badgley Mischka told ABCNews.com. “It’s that kind of gown that’s going to stand the test of time.”
“They have so many other similarities,” Kimberly Lee Minor of Priscilla of Boston told ABCNews.com. “Grace was a commoner and became a princess. They both had their own career. They are both beautiful people and aspirational to many. And their sense of style clearly.”
Sarah Burton scored a huge win today, garnering praises for a classic yet contemporary look for an event reportedly watched by 2 billion people. Catherine “Kate” Middleton now known as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge was praised for her poise and beauty. After five days of non-stop news surrounding the royal wedding, the big event is FINALLY over.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program…hopefully.
