Nicki Minaj paid a visit to her brother, Jelani Maraj who has been in prison since being found guilty of child rape. According to TMZ, the rapper has not been close to her sibling since he was charged with raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter in 2015. That may explain why she’s remained quiet throughout the ordeal.

Apparently, Minaj only visited Maraj to support their mother, Carol Maraj, who had not seen her son since the verdict. Sources told TMZ Minaj took her mom to Nassau County Jail last week.

On Thursday, Nov. 9, Maraj was found guilty of predatory sexual assault on the now-14-year-old girl. Despite his case lasting for nearly two years, Minaj has never made a statement on the matter. She did, however, pay $100,000 bond when Maraj was arrested on charges of predatory assault, second-degree course of sexual conduct and a misdemeanor charge of acting in a manner likely to injure a child.

Maraj’s lawyer, David Schwartz, said last week that his client will appeal, according to the Associated Press.

The plan falls in line with Maraj’s maintenance of his innocence throughout the case. The Associated Press reported that Schwartz told jurors the victim’s mother had concocted lies to get $25 million from Minaj.

“We believe the truth will come out,” said Schwartz, told Bossip in March. “The complaining witness in the case and others have a real motive in this case to lie, this never occurred and Jelani is completely innocent.”

The victim’s mother denied she made up the allegations.
