A Charleston, South Carolina judge has granted former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager’s defense team access to Walter Scott’s brain.
Slager was caught on video shooting Scott eight times in the back as he ran away during a traffic stop on April 4, 2015, as reported by Atlanta Black Star.
According to WCIV ABC News 4, the defense team plans on using Scott’s brain matter and hair from his scalp to prove that the victim was intoxicated on illicit drugs during the stop last year.
However, attorneys for Scott’s family have stated that the drugs found in the April 5, 2015 autopsy would have no effect on his behavior.
As of now, Slager is out on bond living at an undisclosed location after some attempted to set fire to his home. His trial scheduled is for October 31.
