Dwight Howard Takes His Talents to Houston

Dwight Howard has finally decided that teaming up with James Harden in Houston is what he must do to win an NBA championship.

The big man told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith on Friday night that he will abandon Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers and sign a free-agent contract with the Rockets after the league lifts its annual moratorium on player business Wednesday.

Howard said he believes the Rockets will give him a greater chance at winning his first NBA title.

But what’s the real reason for Howard’s departure?

After a pitch meeting for Howard by the Los Angeles Lakers last Tuesday, a Lakers source felt Howard had already made up his mind. Before the meeting even began, the team described him as emotionless.

Howard had told an ESPN source that the main reason he was taking his talents to Houston was because working with coach Mike D’Antoni made him feel uncomfortable.

Smith, on vacation, spoke to Howard about his decision. Check out what he had to say in the video.
