The Gotham Awards Winners

The IFP Gotham Film Awards for 2012 were given out last night in New York. The awards, used to recognize excellence in independent film, feature a much better roster of winners than we’ll likely be seeing from any of the bigger, higher-profile awards shows that will soon be coming down the pipe. Moonrise Kingdom and Beasts of the Southern Wild are two of the best movies of the year, independent or mainstream. And Your Sister’s Sister, Middle of Nowhere and How to Survive a Plague are all solid films thoroughly deserving of recognition for their respective elements that won them their awards. I know that I’m now keen to check out Artifact, Concussion, and An Oversimplification of Her Beauty whenever they become available.

Here is the complete list of winners:

Best Feature: Moonrise Kingdom
Gotham Independent Film Audience Award: Artifact
Best Ensemble Performance: Emily Blunt, Rosemarie Dewitt and Mark Duplass, Your Sister’s Sister
