Will.I.Am., Black Eyed Peas Sue Former Manager for $3 Million

Three of the Black Eyed Peas have filed a lawsuit against their former business manager for $3 million in losses. According to the Los Angeles Times, Sean M. Larkin cost the trio millions when he neglected to file tax returns for the group from 2002 to 2009. According to a lawyer representing Taboo, apl.de.ap and Will.I.Am, “Larkin falsely represented … on numerous occasions that he was taking care of everything and that they had nothing to worry about.”

Larkin acknowledges his mismanagement of the band and some of his other clients saying he “got in over my head with the amount of clients I had.” Fergie, the fourth band mate, is not involved in the suit since she has her own business manager. According to the suit, the band discovered the delinquent tax bills in 2009 and confronted Larkin, who said he would fix the issue. The band eventually fired him and paid off their bills but they still need some records from Larkin in order to finish returns for their touring company. Larkin himself filed for bankruptcy back in April and the Peas’ complaint is a part of Larkin’s Chapter 7 filing. He is also allegedly being sued by two other clients and owes the government $1 million. Larkin did not return any calls from the L.A. Times for additional commentary.

In other Peas related news, their song “My Humps” has been cited as the song with the worse song lyrics ever, according to a poll by Global Gathering. They beat out artists like Nicki Minaj and Taio Cruz with 22 percent of the vote because of repetitive and simplistic lyrics like “My hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, my hump, My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely little lumps.” But the Peas probably weren’t shooting for lyrical genius praise when they came up with that one.
