Legendary actress Jane Fonda is in talks to play Nancy Reagan in the upcoming movie The Butler.
According to multiple sources, director Lee Daniels has asked Fonda to play the former First Lady of the United States and she accepted, but no official deal has been made as of yet.
The Butler story follows Eugene Allen, an African-American butler who worked at the White House from 1952 to 1986, serving under a total of eight presidents. The butler started working at the White House at a time when black people were still discriminated against.
The movie already has an all-star cast attached to it. Similar to what Steven Spielberg is doing with Lincoln, Daniels has replicated with The Butler. Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and David Oyelowo are all actors who are already in talks to play in the movie.
Respectively, the movie is based on an article written about Eugene’s life story by Wil Haygood, which was published in the Washington Post days after President Barack Obama was elected.
