Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Tapped Along With Javier Bardem For 'The Counselor'

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have not shared screen time since Mr. &  Mrs. Smith (2005), however, if the rumors  are true about Ridley Scott’s upcoming film The Counselor,  the couple may once again be co-stars.

According to Deadline, Scott may get his wish to have both Pitt and No Country For Old Men actor, Javier Bardem, occupying roles in the film alongside Michael Fassbender. The two actors are reportedly in talks to secure the parts.

Pitts cohabiting partner Jolie may also be up for an undisclosed part. Although the rumors about the status of those negotiations have not yet been confirmed, it remains a possibility since the Salt actress will not begin filming her next  film, Maleficent, until late June or early July.

The Counselor is an adaptation of McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Road.  Fassbender plays the lead role of a respected lawyer who attempts to dabble in the drug business, but soon finds himself in a world of trouble and fighting to get out.  The movie is being described as No Country For Old Men on steroids.’

Nick Wechsler will serve as executive producer of the film, while Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz are given credit for penning the adaptation.

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Michael Fassbender have all worked with Ridley Scott before. Fassbender stars in Scott’s soon-to-hit theaters  sci-fi thriller Prometheus, while  Pitt last worked with him on Thelma & Louise.  Jolie and Scott are currently collaborating on a biopic of Gertrude Bell, which reportedly led to the idea of her acting in The Counselor.
