When a celebrity dies, there are often “sightings” of them in everyday public life. Dedicated fans claimed they saw Elvis at the mall, Tupac at the skating rink and now Biggie as a ghost?
This time, the rumors are true. The Notorious B.I.G.’s teenage children will be featured in a new animated musical series called House of Wallace —and Biggie will indeed appear s a “friendly” ghost.
The series’ plot will focus on the late rapper’s Brooklyn recording studio, which his children Tyanna and C.J. must save from being replaced by an entertainment corporation. The rapper’s spirit will be an integral character with lines, “appearing to the children in ethereal form to guide them through the adversities they face as they struggle to preserve their father’s labor of love,” according to a synopsis for the show.
Ossian Media will be producing the project. Ossian Media President Wally Eltawashy recently released a statement, claiming, “it is Ossian’s distinct honor and privilege to be entrusted with furthering the legacy of one of the world’s greatest modern musical talents. The show’s creative format will allow for advertising integration in the truest, purest sense of the term — this could well be the very first animated program to incorporate creative shops [and their brand partners] directly into the narrative.”
Ossian will partner with Biggie’s children, Tyanna and C.J Wallace in developing the series. Tyanna and C.J will also voice their respective characters. The brother and sister also released a statement about the project. “It’s been 16 years since our dad was murdered and we miss him dearly. … It is such an honor for us to be able to carry on his legacy, not only through his music but also by channeling him through our own creativity. This project, ‘House of Wallace,’ is a great opportunity for us to bridge the gap between our parents who loved his music and the kids and young adults our ages, that were not around to really appreciate it,” they said.
No word on whether the nature of their father’s death will be discussed. Biggie Smalls was killed in 1997 at age 24, a murder that received enormous public attention, but remains unsolved.
