Oliver Stone Book Rips Obama, Compares His Term To Bush Administration

Director Oliver Stone’s book rips Obama, claiming he hasn’t stayed true to his promises and even claims that in some cases President Obama was no better than the Bush administration.

Stone’s new book, “The Untold History of the United States,” heavily criticizes the president and even accused him of making a bad situation much worse.

“The country Obama inherited was indeed in shambles, but Obama took a bad situation, and in certain ways, made it worse,” Stone wrote along with co-author historian Peter Kuznick. “…[R]ather than repudiating the policies of Bush and his predecessors, Obama has perpetuated them.”

The Academy Award winning filmmaker has been known for his politically daring films including “JFK” and “Born On The Fourth of July,” and although he still supports the President he has proved that even he doesn’t get any special treatment when it comes to discussing the truth.

Both authors felt as if electing Obama “felt like a kind of expiation for the sins of a nation whose reputation had been sullied… by racism, imperialism, militarism, nuclearism, environmental degradation and unbridle avarice.”

The criticisms of the President centered around health care reform, military action in Afghanistan, and civil liberties.

“Obama’s failure to articulate a progressive vision was also apparent in the fight over health reform, which was to have been his signature initiative…” they wrote in the critical book.

When it came to his actions in Afghanistan, both authors made it clear that they were less than impressed.

“When it finally came down to decision time, Obama didn’t have the courage or integrity of a post-Cuban Missile Crisis John F. Kennedy,” Stone pointed out in disappointment.

“Among the greatest disappointments to his followers was Obama’s refusal to roll back the expanding national security state that so egregiously encroached on American civil liberties,” the “Platoon” director continued.

Oliver revealed that he will still be voting for Obama again this year, but he still “asserted presidential powers in ways that must have made Dick Cheney jealous.”

Perhaps the only reason he isn’t switching sides this election is because of his dislike for Romney, but not necessarily is approval for the President.

“I’m not voting for that idiot,” he said of Mitt Romney, but if it was GOP rep Ron Paul’s name on the ballot things might have played out a little differently.

“I like Ron Paul’s magnetism, his decency, his honor and his foreign policy,” the director turned author admitted during an interview this June. Of course he also pointed out that “It’s hard for me to vote Republican.”

Despite his views for this election, the traditionally liberal Hollywood filmmaker is becoming weary of America’s two-party system.

“Both parties made it clear they will enforce the rules of the old rules of the empire,” Oliver stated.

“The Untold History of the United States” will hit bookstores tomorrow (Oct. 30) just a week before election day and will be followed by 10-part documentary series scheduled to air on November 12.
