A TJ Maxx shopper in Wheaton, Illinois, was understandably annoyed when she saw a car parked in the red zone directly in front of the store’s entrance. But instead of staying focused on the parking issue, the white woman turned the encounter into a racial confrontation with the Black driver.
The video reignited an online debate over whether it’s ever okay to park in a red zone while waiting to pick someone up. But one thing wasn’t up for debate: attacking someone based on their race.
The man behind the wheel, who goes by Mar3on online, posted the clip to TikTok on Sept. 8 with the caption, “Racist Karen provoking me for waiting on my wife in front of TJ Maxx.”

The woman poked her head into his car to ask, “Why are you parked here? Do you think you’re better than everybody else?” adding, “Everybody parks in the parking lot but you don’t. Why is that?”
Many commenters called her questions nosy but somewhat reasonable. Then came the infuriating veiled digs: “It’s always your kind, too,” adding, “this is what you guys do.”
When Mar3on pressed her, asking whether she was racist, she responded sarcastically, “Yeah, I’m racist. Yeah, right. It’s all about that.” Before walking away, she made a derisive remark suggesting that he had an “EBT card” for government assistance.
Some commenters sided with her original complaint, but were appalled by the way she handled it.
One wrote, “You park where everyone else does, or you stand out, and there’s always a chance of someone calling ya out if you do.”
Another chimed in, “I would have just avoided the situation and parked in a spot.”
But several others expressed dismay and frustration that a simple parking dispute so quickly became a racial attack.
“Why are people defending her in the comments?” asked one person. “Regardless of where he’s parked, people like her should not be proud of that behavior. He didn’t even have to tell her he’s waiting for his wife and his hazards are on. Literally, mind your business.”
Another labeled her a “Karen” who was “out of control,” and a third summed up the feeling perfectly: “OMG, this is insane, what the hell.”
All that drama, and none of it was necessary.
