T-Pain had to set some fans straight over the weekend regarding a lyric from his hit single “I’m Sprung.” The Florida vocalist was confused why fans thought they heard him say, “Out to get me” in the song’s chorus.
On Saturday, April 2, he tweeted, “How in God’s name do ppl hear ‘out to get me’ on I’m Sprung?! It drives me crazy! It’s ‘Dog she got me’…. How are you hearing the other thing at all?!”
T-Pain continued in other tweets asking, “How are you even hearing ‘get’ over ‘got’ I just can’t think of a way to hear that. Pls go listen to the song with this new information. It’s like watching an old movie as an adult and finally understanding all the sex jokes.”
The 37-year-old returned Sunday, April 3, adding, “And just to clear this up on the I’m sprung thing… there was no auto tune on that part. I only used auto tune on the verses so shut the hell up about how auto tune made it sound weird. I annunciated the F-CK out of them words.”
“I’m Sprung” was the debut single from T-Pain’s debut album, “Rappa Ternt Sanga.” The single went platinum and was sampled by rapper Tory Lanez in 2019. He hopped on the track “Jerry Sprunger” from Tory’s “Chixtape 5” project.
That same year, T-Pain released his sixth studio album, “1UP.” These days he’s tapped into other entertaining endeavors, such as launching the “Nappy Boy Radio” podcast in 2021. It features late-night conversations with special guests like Lil Jon, Mike Tyson, Jordan Sparks, Clifton Powell, and dozens more. The “Buy U A Drank” musician is also a judge on the talent competition series “Go-Big Show” as a replacement for Snoop Dogg.
