Delta Airlines has issued a statement apologizing to a customer who was cursed at by one of their employees at Portland International Airport.

The incident got the public’s attention when 37-year-old scientist Ruhul Amin from Honolulu shared some videos on Facebook. Amin was traveling to Portland for the Ocean Sciences Meeting which required a week’s stay.

Amin explained to KGW8 News that his Delta flight from Honolulu to Portland was delayed twice. However, the problem escalated when he was later placed on a Hawaiian Airlines flight by Delta, but his bags were already stored on another Delta flight. What happened next left Amin completely appalled.

The scientist went to pick up his luggage around 10 p.m. February 11th from Delta in Portland and encountered impatient and belligerent staff who not only fired off curse word at him but threatened to call the police numerous times.

The employee who was not identified has been suspended from the airline according to a statement released by Delta.

“The actions displayed by this employee do not in any way reflect the standard of customer service and professionalism we expect from our employees. This conduct is unacceptable and we have reached out directly to the customer and apologized.”

Amin told the news outlet that Delta has since apologized and offered him a $200 voucher.
