WASHINGTON (AP) — Singer Joy Villa says she wants an apology from Corey Lewandowski for hitting her twice on her buttocks during a Washington gathering last fall. And she’s defending herself against a video that shows her slapping another man’s buttocks at a separate event.
Villa is a Trump supporter and potential congressional candidate who wore a dress displaying Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan to the Grammys. Lewandowski was Trump’s campaign manager until being fired in June 2016.
Villa tells ABC’s “Good Morning America” that she has apologized to the man who she hit: “When he said, ‘Take it easy,’ I stopped.”
She said, “We have to say ‘I’m sorry.'”
The video shows Villa at an event when she asks the person filming if they’re live. She proceeds to smack the man on the behind as he’s speaking with others at a table. It’s unclear where the event was taking place and Villa’s relationship with the man.
“That was consensual, amongst friends and he didn’t object to it at all,” Villa told TheWrap in response to the video. “There is a difference between what Corey did to me, in which he was a stranger, it was unwanted and I told him to stop multiple times, and he not only didn’t stop but proceeded to hit me again. This isn’t rocket science: No means no.”
Villa insists she isn’t interested in dragging anyone’s name through the mud and is more interested in an apology. Trump supporters, on the other hand, are doing their best to expose Villa’s alleged hypocrisy.
