Several major corporations including Starbucks, Whole Foods and Walmart have been reported to use inmate labor for their business purposes.
The world-known fast-food restaurant, McDonald’s, uses inmates to produce frozen foods and to assist in the processing of beef for patties. McDonald’s also uses inmates to sew uniforms. Walmart reportedly uses inmates for manufacturing purposes, having them remove UPC bar codes from products so they can be resold.
This Atlanta Black Star video brings to light 13 mainstream corporations who have used inmates as free or cheap labor.
