On the Aug. 18 edition of HLN’s “Dr. Drew,” panelists discuss the recent revelation that Ryan Lochte and other U.S. swimmers misled media about a robbery in Brazil last week.
Atlanta Black Star reported that Lochte, Gunnar Bentz, Jimmy Feigen and Jack Conger were not robbed at a gas station during the 2016 Olympics.
Instead, surveillance footage shows the group vandalizing the suburban gas station and during lewd acts.
One swimmer can be seen breaking down the door. While another from the entourage fights off a security guard, per Brazilian Police investigators.
In the clip above, psychotherapist Spirit points out the media’s timid approach to covering the recent developments in the case.
“I am waiting to hear the same language here on this program … that I hear used for individuals that do far less than this,” she exclaims. “Where’s the word ‘thug?’ Where’s ‘hooligan?’ Where’s ‘vandals?’ “
