On the Aug. 15 edition of Fox’s “Business News,” Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke talks about the recent unrest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin after a Black man was shot by police.

After the shooting of 23-year-old Sylville K. Smith during a traffic stop, protesters took to the streets to vent years of pent-up frustration.

Clarke claims that rioters and protesters were exhibiting “tribal behavior” and using the shooting as an excuse to steal.  The sheriff even calls their community a jungle.

“What causes riots are failed liberal urban policies in these ghettos,” Clarke tells the host. “Milwaukee has inescapable poverty. We’re like the sixth poorest city in America. They have failing public schools… You have massive Black unemployment… You have dysfunctional families, you have father-absent homes, you have questionable lifestyle choices.”

Clarke begrudgingly compliments the good citizens during the unrest.

“I feel for these individuals,” he continues. “They might be unemployed, but they’re good law-abiding people and they need help. But they’re not getting it from this Democrat [sic] liberal class of politicians who have reigned over this thing for decades.”

In the final moments of the interview, Clarke takes one more swipe at Democrats ruining the city.

“Like I said, the economic state in Milwaukee today wasn’t like this when I was growing up as a kid here,” Clarke recalled. “This happened over time under their watch, pushing the growth of the welfare state.”
