Beyoncé, who’s selling out multiple stadium dates on her Formation World Tour, helped raise thousands of dollars ahead of her Detroit concert stop. Yesterday, her company Parkwood Entertainment presented United Way of Genesee County in Michigan with a check for $82,234, according to a press release.
The company based in Flint, Michigan thanked the singer and her BeyGood charity campaign for their support on Twitter Monday afternoon. The donation will go to their Flint Water Fund to aid residents still dealing with unclean water, though it was recently deemed safe to use for bathing and washing hands.

The press release from Bey’s team also reveals 14 students from Detroit area high schools were given “college gifts” towards educational expenses. They were also surprised with tickets to tonight’s concert at Ford Field.

Stacey D. Stewart, the U.S. President of United Way Worldwide, thanked the singer for her support in the press release.
“We are so grateful for the support Beyoncé has given to those in Flint and the way she has inspired her fans to fight for the education, health and financial stability of everyone in their communities,” she said. “This partnership demonstrates just how easy it can be to give back.”
Atlanta Black Star reported Detroit is one of three cities on the singer’s tour to host a “signature charity” event. The other two are in Houston and Compton, California. Beyoncé’s team announced plans to set up these special functions in April. Fans were able to give to Flint by donating to CrowdRise and each donation entered them to win VIP tickets to the “Lemonade” hitmaker’s concert.
Tonight’s show will also feature other charities dedicated to raising funds for various interests. BeyGood is linking with Chime For Change – which looks to raise money for girls and women around the globe – and Global Citizen, a charity working to end extreme poverty.
