In this one-minute video, President Barack Obama teams up with NBA star Steph Curry to push the importance of mentors in young people’s lives.
The president’s mentoring initiative, My Brother’s Keeper, is “a call to action for all Americans to make a difference for young people by becoming a mentor,” according to Mentor.gov. Mentorship is the centerpiece of the initiative, as research has shown the impact of positive outcomes in the lives of those who have been mentored.
In the video, President Obama helps Curry with his resume, beats him in an intense game of Connect Four and even shows him the correct form for a jump shot.
“You don’t need all the time in the world or all the answers to be the mentor someone needs,” a voiceover says. “And you don’t need to be an NBA star or President of the United States to be someone’s hero.”
