The president of the University of Missouri, Tim Wolfe, said Monday he was resigning amid mounting criticism of his handling of racism on campus.
Wolfe’s exit came two days after Black members of Mizzou’s football team said they would not play as a way of joining the protests against racism, and a week into a graduate student’s resolve to not eat until Wolfe left office. Wolfe’s resignation is the culmination of several weeks of unrest over racist incidents, and the administration’s lack of response.
Immediately following the announcement of his resignation, celebrities and journalist weighed in on Twitter.
