1. Black alternative culture is just Blacks participating in white culture.
Even though mainstream media makes it seem like only white people are involved alternative culture, it doesn’t mean that Black people aren’t. Rock n’ roll was invented thanks to Black musicians like Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Chuck Berry. Hipsters were originally called “hepsters,” a term coined by jazz musician Cab Calloway. Nerd culture has Black creators like the late comic book writer Dwayne McDuffie and late sci-fi author Octavia Butler. Black people have made many contributions to alternative culture in the past and continue to do so today.
