Christian Bale AKA Bruce Wayne’s most impressive gear wasn’t hidden down in the Bat Cave, but were the Giorgio Armani suits from his upstairs closet. The Dark Knight rises…in bespoke suits, it seems. Keep an eye out for the custom Giorgio Armani suits donned by Batman’s alter-ego Bruce Wayne in the latest and final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. Collaborating with Academy award-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming, Giorgio Armani designed a full suite of suits that reflect the dapper, playboy personality of the billionaire philanthropist, the secret identity of the caped crusader.
Mr. Wayne makes his appearance in the film clad in two-button notch collar suits, one in charcoal gray pinstripe and another in medium gray glen plaid. Sure to be hot collector’s items should they go up for auction one day, the Made to Measure suits feature the customized owner’s label: “Giorgio Armani for Bruce Wayne”.
Besides clothing Christian Bale, co-stars Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were also outfitted in various Giorgio Armani pieces. The label also provided accessories for the film’s slinky villainess, the Cat Burglar, played by Anne Hathaway.
Commenting on the collaboration, Giorgio Armani said: “In the lexicon of super heroes, it’s an honor to be associated with such an intriguing character as Bruce Wayne. To be involved with the design process for a tremendous talent like Christian Bale is a rewarding experience. I’m thrilled to play a small role in the Dark Knight legacy.”
