Producer Shonda Rhimes is bringing a new character to get swept up with. Aja Naomi King (“The Blacklist”) has just been cast in ABC Studios’ drama pilot titled, “Murder“.
Billed as a “sexy, suspense-driven” legal thriller, “How To Get Away With Murder” was written by Peter Nowalk and finds King’s character as Michaela Pratt, an ambitious law student. The Gersh and TGE repped talent also will be recurring on ABC Studios’ other platform, The Black Box.
The drama stars Kelly Reilly and Vanessa Redgrave as two doctors riding the wave of cutting-edge discoveries’ King plays Ali Henslee.
Rhimes, accompanied by her Shondaland partner Betsy Beers, is continuing to shift the small screen dynamic with this latest show. “Murder” still has yet to announce a leading lady, but the premise of a “brilliant and mysterious criminal defense professor who becomes entangled in a murder plot” already sounds appetizing.
