Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will not play in the team’s game against the Oakland Raiders Sunday, after he re-injured his hamstring in last week’s loss to the New York Giants.
Nick Foles will start as QB against the Raiders, with rookie Matt Barkley as backup, Eagles’ coach Chip Kelly said Wednesday.
Foles, who sat out last week’s game against the Giants, suffered a concussion in the Oct. 20 game against the Dallas Cowboys, but returned to practice Tuesday after he was cleared medically.
“Nick did really well,” Kelly said. “I know he was cleared, but we needed to see him. I was really happy with how Nick practiced yesterday.
“One of the good things about practicing on Tuesday is you can get your eyes on people who have been out. Nick did a really good job and Nick will be our starting quarterback this week.”
