New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has recently addressed the trade rumors that have been floating around the media. He said no one in the Giants organization has talked to him about being traded, so he expects to finish the season on the squad.
“I’m a Giant, and that’s the only thing I can focus on right now,” Nicks said. “I’m a Giant, and I love playing for the Giants. I’m a Giant right now, and I’m going to stand strong on that.”
Nicks is in his last year of his contract. The Giants signed a long-term deal with wide receiver Victor Cruz and have given second-year wide receiver Rueben Randle a larger role in passing offense.
The Giants are currently 0-6 and may be out of the playoffs. So before the end of the Oct. 29 trade deadline, rumors are that the Giants may trade Nicks to a contending team for a potential draft pick for next year.
“I’m sure they’ve got enough respect for me to come to me and talk to me about a situation like that,” Nicks said. “As of now, I’m a Giant. At the end of the day, business is business. But I haven’t been getting any whiff of anything like that. I’m a Giant right now, and I’m going to enjoy it, and we’ve got to start winning games.”
