As if Damon Dash didn’t have enough problems, the Roc-A-Fella mogul’s son, Damon Dash II, was arrested last week after his girlfriend accused him of beating and choking her.
Damon Dash is one of several celebrities who faced serious tax problems earlier this year and now he has more bad news to go along with his IRS drama.
Damon II is facing charges of misdemeanor assault and strangulation after a disagreement with his girlfriend turned into a physical altercation in Manhattan on Sept. 24.
The feud between 22-year-old Damon II and his girlfriend Chelsea was allegedly over sex, and according to the New York Post, the attack came dangerously close to becoming rape.
“They had an apparent dispute over sex,” law enforcement officials told the Post. “She was visiting him at his apartment, he got violent with her, starts to punch her, slap her and shove her onto the bed, got on top of her, grabs her by the throat and chokes her.”
According to Damon II’s girlfriend, he actually choked her hard enough to stop her breathing and other reports claim the victim had a black eye and cuts on her lip.
To make matters worse, reports say the brutal attack was the second battering of the night.
It was reported that Damon II and his girlfriend had already had another serious fight earlier that night, but managed to reconcile despite violence. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before the second, even more violent fight occurred, which resulted in the charges filed against the hip-hop mogul’s son.
Damon II didn’t spend too much time behind bars for the attack – well, not yet anyway.
He was arraigned on Sept. 25, just one day after the alleged assault took place, and released on his own recognizance. But he must not have any contact with Chelsea.
All this comes shortly after news that Damon Dash Sr. has been reconnecting with his former business partner Jay Z and pal Cam’ron.
While it would be nice to believe that Dash is simply ready to see his buddies again, it’s more likely that he’s trying to find his next business move to take care of the $2.8 million tax lien from July.
Ever since he parted ways with Jay Z and Roc-A-Fella Records, he has been struggling to pay his taxes and the IRS is tired of waiting for their money.
Damon Jr. really needed to stay out of trouble during a time like this because it doesn’t look like his dad will have the money to help clean up his legal mess.
