J.J. Abrams has previewed his new upcoming sci-fi drama “Almost Human,” starring Micheal Ealy, nearly two months earlier than its due date.
Set 35 years into the future, when humans in Los Angeles Police Department team up with androids, Karl Urban will star as Detective John Kennex, a man who hates robots and is paired with Dorian, played by Ealy who is an android with the ability to feel.
Abrams invited a small group of reporters to his Bad Robot offices where he introduced the series.
“The overlap — the Venn diagram of these two shows — would be that they’re pushing the edge of technology and what might be possible in that regard,” Abrams told reporters. “But the series themselves are completely different types of shows. What they’re dealing with in this type of show is much more a cop show that you might feel is familiar with a wrench thrown into that, with the huge adjustment being that the cases themselves aren’t what you’ve seen before. The truths of the differences between these characters are atypical because of the world of which it takes place.”
Abrams highlighted that “Almost Human” will follow the model of the hit show “Person of Interest.” He also released a promotional video for the show, which debuts on FOX in November of this year.
