Isaiah Washington has signed on to star and produce writer-director Patrik-Ian Polk’s “Blackbird.”
“Blackbird” is a film about a father of a talented, teenaged singer who struggles with homosexuality and religion in a small Southern Baptist town. Washington will be playing the teen’s estranged father who becomes sympathetic to his son’s troubles and helps him come of age.
Washington will produce the film with Polk and Carol Ann Shine, while Keith Brown will serve as executive producer.
Washington tweeted about his collaboration with Polk:
“If you love #TheUndershepherd and #BlueCaprice. Y’all are going 2 flip over what @PatrikIanPolk and I are bringing to the screen. #Truthdom — Gondobay Manga II (@IWashington) September 5, 2013.”
Washington is getting reviews in his favor for his performance in the Alexander Moors-directed “Blue Caprice,” which premiered at Sundance and hits theaters September 13.
